This is not an isolated incident check out the reviews! The Gift Box, Leeds AVOID THIS CON ARTIST Read Reviews @Review_Centre http://bit.ly/a8Cg0i

As those who have read my blog before realise this is sometimes a place to vent my spleen regarding truly appalling customer service received. As a savvy consumer I believe in passing these experiences on to people who maybe considering using the same services to give them the full picture of what to expect, as I would expect someone to let me know if a company was not recommended for such a reason.

However – in February 2009 my now husband and I attended the Yorkshire wedding show – as we had set the date for our big day for September 2009 we needed to get cracking with the organisation. Now the Yorkshire Wedding show holds some stature in that we believed that anyone exhibiting there would be reputable and reliable (as I am sure most are) but I have changed my opinion dramatically after dealing with a Gift List company based in Leeds called The Gift Box (thegiftbox.co.uk). Who promised us a £50 “gift” if we booked an appointment with them at the show, so we did.

We arranged a meeting with the owner; Julia for early March to discuss our gift list so we drove to Leeds (over an hours journey) Julia was late, so we had to wait outside the shop (which was shared with another company so it wasn’t even her premisses)

Once she arrived we went through our gifts, created the list and collected some cards to distribute with the invites so people knew where we were registered.

The wedding came and it was AMAZING! simply perfect. After we returned from honeymoon 2 weeks after the wedding I supplied Julia with the agreed list of what we wanted – Julia explained it may take 12 weeks for delivery – this meant by early New Year 2010 we would have our pressies! Thank you cards had already gone out to the generous guests who bought us gifts from the service.

Anyway January came and went, still no gifts! After calling Julia nearly every other day and emailing we received nothing but automated responses saying she was expecting a baby but still providing an incredible level of service to her customers. Well if that is the case why was this the first we herd of her “absence”? Why was nobody looking after her business or her customers??

We even contacted the shop she part rents in order to get in touch – still no luck apart from the spurious email now and again “the gifts are on their way”, “they have been delayed over Christmas or due to snow”

It was only in APRIL (YES 7 MONTHS LATER) after threats of legal action and contacting Trading Standards that we actually received our items; very curious this happened within a week of us sending our strongly worded letter to Julia who did not tell us about having a baby or arrange cover to take over and serve her oh so important customers!

No apology for the hassle and some people had gave money as gifts (which were meant to be honeymoon experiences) which we had to wait 7 months for and then after providing my bank details to Julia I had to contact her in late April to say the money had not gone into my account – to which I finally got a reply that she had the wrong bank details for me?! Well that’s funny as I forwarded the previous email which I copied and pasted the details from my on-line banking so SHE had either made a mistake inputting it or not bothered at all, I am leaning to the latter!

This is money that had been paid to The Gift Box seven months prior just gaining interest in The Gift Box’s bank account ( with a £2.50 charge for delivery- for cash?!  at the cost of our guests) Still waiting for the money to clear into my bank account. Wonder if the £50 “gift” will be added…probably not. Simply shocking.

So basically The Gift Box could not care less about its customers and should be avoided at all costs!

My husband believed The Gift Box were cowboys from day one – I should have listened to him! This is not an isolated incident check out the reviews! The Gift Box, Leeds AVOID THIS CON ARTIST Read Reviews @Review_Centre http://bit.ly/a8Cg0i

This sounds exactly like our situation -absolutely gutted as we celbrate our 1st Anniversary in a week a and a half and we’ve recieved nothing-£200 of honeymoon experiences, about £1500 gifts and of course the £50 for signing up on the day offer that we have to keep asking about. We’ve been very polite to now and have been considerate to her having a baby but from reading the reviews we have no option but to contact trading standards-it really leaves a sour taste on the most amazing day of our lives and Julia says she started the business because her and her husband had such bad service on their wedding list when they got married-I would like to know which company could possibly be worse than this! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

Hi Em – so sorry you have had the same experience as us – we are obviously not alone though! It is shocking that she can get away with it and only after we got our solicitor involved did she cough up. We never seen the £50 sign up gift either – I am writing to Yorkshire Brides and the Local Papers for Leeds to try and get this con artist exposed. We too felt a little guilty for contacting her all the time while she was having the baby as we did not want to cause her stress but it appears she has had this “I have your money – I’m all right Jack” attitude for long before she fell pregnant so we don’t feel as bad about it now – just another one of the con artists tricks! Keep in touch if you don’t get your gifts and I will happily pass on the name of our solicitor.

Your story sounds pretty much exactly the same as ours (we got married Sept 2009)! The only difference being that we saw them at Waterton Hall in Wakefield and as you did assumed they would be good, Julia could definately talk the talk. As you have mentioned it was only upon threatening trading standards (twice) that have we received most of our gifts! I’ve also left a review on review-centre.com. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!! I just really want to warn people off as I would hate for anyone to go through the same experience as we did!

Sarah I am sorry you also had problems with The Gift Box in Leeds – they are truly appalling and I really really hope other people see these experiences and stop using them! Also the fact she has the money to appear at all these wedding shows is a joke – they should do checks on who they let appear at them as it effects their reputation too, pay attention Yorkshire Brides!!

Sarah have you received all your gifts yet?? if not contact the local press (I will happily comment if you need me to) – Good Luck keep me posted! :)

We got married in May 2009 and we are still missing some of the gifts from Julia. We were never contact by the Gift Box to close our list so we didn’t get finalised until July and then we were told it would take up to 12 weeks. After much chasing I was informed that our list was complete and we were due our delivery the following Saturday, February, 8 months later! The delivery was made by Julia’s Husband who told us to check the delivery note in side the box and let Julia know if there were any problems. There were £245 worth of items missing and this was following an email the previous day by Julia confirming that all the goods had arrived and were in the box. I was disgusted and truly believe that they are just hoping that people don’t pick up on there scam. I emailed her straight away, that was around the time of the whole new baby email but eventually at the start of June I received an email saying the outstanding goods had been posted out to me. We collected the box from the Post Office and guess what…. it’s still missing all of the utensils we ordered.
I have just called Trading Standards and am about to email Julia again regarding the missing items. I curse the day we meet this woman at the Woodlands Hotel Wedding Fair, our Wedding was perfect and this company has caused us disappointment, time and embarrassment in an otherwise wonderful event.
Please please if you are considering booking this company STAY AWAY!! Do not let them cause you as much trouble and they have caused my Husband and I.

Kate you are not alone – I get emails from lots of people who have had similar experiences and you are right the stress and upset it causes it unforgivable! I think they work on the ethos that people will not be tenacious enough to keep pursing her for what is rightfully theirs! Keep fighting it and let me know how you get on and I will happily back you up if you need me to with the press or a solicitor – Good Luck :)

We got married in Dec 2009, and set up a list with the gift box after meeting Julia at the Oulton Hall wedding fair. Had no problems with the service until a week before our wedding when the website kept crashing when some guests tried to buy gifts, as the guests hadn’t realised the payments hadn’t gone through they kept trying and some guests bought the same gift up to 4 times. I realised straight away as I could see what guests had bought, the most embarrassing part was when guests then put cash/cheques in our wedding cards (thinking they still hadn’t bought a gift) and then said sorry on the wedding day to us thinking it was their fault for leaving it so late to buy a gift! Julia did not respond to emails the week before our wedding to sort out the refunds and then we went on honeymoon – when we got back I had to ring round guests explaining the problem and getting guests to call for a refund (always having to leaving messages as Julia is never at the phone).

We could almost forgive all that, but 12 weeks came after the list was closed, and it was difficult to get a delivery date! But eventually we were told a delivery would arrive by midday on a Saturday – it did not arrive and we were late going to London for a family christening! 2 days later we picked up our boxes from a local post office. 8 gifts missing and 1 damaged. We assumed all the gifts were in the delivery as we were not told otherwise!! Did she hope we just wouldn’t notice?

During this time, Julia had a baby, and obviously had set up no cover as she had an instant reply email sent out to you every time you emailed the gift box saying ‘the gift box has had a baby, but is still offering the high level of service…. Etc etc’ they did not. We also had an email from Julia explaining how she and her family hadn’t had a holiday for 2 years and were desperate for a break so she would chase up our missing gifts after that. Totally unprofessional! We are not heartless people and were never rude or unreasonable (mainly because we were worried if we majorly complained we wouldn’t hear from her again!!), but if we were given more correspondence and not 3 emails to get one reply from the gift box, we would have been maybe slightly more patient…..

We also were owed cash for honeymoon experiences, which we were told we would get as a cheque and would have to sign for on delivery of the gifts. It was transferred into our bank directly – why could this not be done straight away after the list was closed? Not 14 weeks later!

Many emails later, and swapping of discontinued gifts (probably because the orders were so late!!), we received another few gifts. Still missing 2 and a damaged gift replacement. I had to let my husband take over the chasing up at this point because I could not deal with this unprofessional woman again!

We then asked for the cash alternative which she said she would happily do – it took 3 weeks but we finally got the final £89 transferred.

I have a mutual friend with Julia, so really thought I could trust her service.

This was more hassle and stress than the 20 months of planning prior to the wedding!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GIFT BOX – PLEASE AVIOD!!!!

Girls,

I am sorry to hera of your experience with the gift box but have too say are we all on about the same place?
I could not be any happier with the service that my husband and I received from Julia. She could not be more helpful and enthusiastic about or gifts.
I have emails from her regularly keeping me updated with all the goings on with our gift list.

She delivered them on time and everything was there that was on the list undamaged. This was the type of service a bride would expect by taking all the stress away from me(as you all know its stressful enough)

I would recommend the gift box to anyone as my experience was second to none.

Julia was always polite and very professional and could not fault her in any way.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions girls

Hi Sarah
Thanks for your comments. I am glad you had a very different experience from the girls and I with Julia and The Gift Box in Leeds. I am still sorely disappointed by her unprofessionalism and you are quiet right a wedding is stressful enough without all the problems we experienced with The Gift Box. I find it curious that you had such a different experience than the rest of us, maybe we weren’t as valued to Julia and therefore given sub-standard treatment, I am only guessing of course but it is strange. However Sarah I think you are in a minority of people who had a good experience with the Gift Box, or maybe she has got her act together since dealing with us. Out of curiosity when did you get married/use The Gift Box as we all seem to have been in the same 10-12 month window so maybe more recently she has listened to these comments and done something about it!. I sincerely hope so!

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the reply. It was 3 months ago next week.
I asked my husband what he thought of her but he said the same thing as I have that she couldn’t have been more helpful. I only wish you had the experience I have had as when i read your blog I could’t believe what I was hearing.
I have recommended her too a few of my friends who are due to get married sometime in the near future as you know when one start the rest follow.

I am glad you didn’t have the same problems as us Sarah. It was horrendous and Julia didn’t give a monkey’s! ignored emails and phone calls – it really was horrid.

My 1 year anniversary is coming up so judging by the time of these similar experiences from the other girls it appears we were all in the same 18 month window of poor customer service.

From the sounds your account 3 months ago was about when she decided to turn herself around (prob due to the sheer volume of unhappy customers who had to threaten legal action before she’d cough up the gifts!!) Let hope she learns from this but I certainly would not recommend her to any of my friends – I am glad to see the back of her and The Gift Box to be honest.

Hi girls, wish I’d have had this site to warn me off of this ignorant company before we signed up. I have written a letter to Waterton Park to ask that they not allow this woman at their wedding fayre again.
We had a gorgeous wedding in January 2010 at Waterton Park and there wasn’t a thing that went worng (besides half our guests leaving early because of a bug everyone had and I had caught by the first day of our honeymoon :-p) Our list was finalised and closed and the whole 12 weeks schpiel was given to us. After attempting to chase it up for several months, things were finally delivered in August 2010, minus my main present, 6 purple wine glasses to go in my new kitchen.
After chasing Julia again and hearing that her husband had been in hospital, she was having a baby, needed a break etc we recieved a parcel, it certainly didn’t look like my glasses and, surprise surprise, it wasn’t. It was somebody else’s gift, a glass vase, not even slightly resembling my glasses. After a week she eventually replied to my email and appologised, saying that her saturday girl had put the wrong address labels on two gifts and our glasses had gone to the other couple. She arranged for the vase to be collected and we, wrongly, assumed that our glasses would be with us very soon, seen as they had just gone to the wrong address. Nope!!!
It’s now the end of February 2011 and we have not heard anything from her since we returned the vase.
My only wish is that we had taken out wedding insurance so that I could have claimed for this huge inconvenience and at least been able to buy some glasses so that I could show my grandma that we had her presents that she was excited about having bought us.
If I have received no response from my most recent email or phone message in 48 hours (as the lovely automated reply to my email keeps saying.) then I shall have no choice but to go to Trading Standards and I’m tempted to not even let her know. I’ve given her enough chances to reply to me and get my glasses to me.
To me, she has robbed my grandma and that makes me furious. I had had a baby 7 weeks before our wedding and was extremely ill because of problems with the birth so I suppose I felt like I should give her some compassion when we learnt she was having a baby and I even felt really bad for harassing her when he husband had been in hospital.
If she struggles so much with maintaining her company then maybe she should consider employing someone or dissolving her company.
I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.

OMG! I can not believe this woman has not learnt from her mistakes and is still taking a lend of her customers! How is she still in business. Jess I would write a formal complaint to Julia then threaten with a solicitors letter – if she offer me compensation she should offer everyone it!! keep me posted Jess x
She used all these same excuses with me over 2 years ago! it still can’t be the case that she is having a baby, her husband is ill – she is a con artist AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

Girls I think we need to get a petition up with the wedding fair venues and tell them not to allow her to sucker anyone else!

Also everyone write a review on Google – if people are searching for her business she will not get very far if Google displays the bad experience we have all had

Awh man I too feel like I should have avoided this woman – just gone with Debenhams or something. We went for ‘The Gift Box’ to try and support local business and nearly 9 months after we got married we’re still waiting on some of our items.

Fair enough, we have some of them, but that was because we rang up threatening to go to trading standards. However the best part was definitely when they tried to pass of the delivery they sent as everything we had ordered! Didn’t even acknowledge that hundreds of pounds worth of gifts had gone missing! Reckon they just hoped we wouldn’t notice and not bother to follow it up. We are doing, and we will continue to.

By far the worst thing for me is we were promised a delivery date in the next month so decided to write our thankyous when we got our gifts (not long after the wedding so a prompt thanks was the idea). Of course they never came. We thought about writing them over and over but family and friends kept asking if we were enjoying our gifts – I could hardly write a thankyou for something I don’t have and I didn’t fancy lying to my family. So days turn into weeks turn into months and I still haven’t said thanks to my generous family and friends because they’ll think the Gift Box have finally coughed up.

They have not. And trading standards said if anyone has the right to ask for a refund or cash alternative it isn’t us, it’s whoever purchased the item. Can you imagine asking my nan to ask the Gift Box for a refund 9 months down the line?!! SO embarrassing! Not to mention the amount of stuff we’ve had to buy for our house just so we can get on with life whilst we’re waiting. Hoover, toaster etc…!!

If any of you ladies manage to get ANYTHING – refund, gift, voucher alternative out of this lady PLEASE let me know.

Oh and her husband delivered us some stuff in December 2010…. so he was well enough then.

Hi Jey – I did get offered a “nice cutlery set” as a form of comp if I took this blog post down, which I wasn’t going to do as it seems to have been useful in hopefully deterring customers away from this company. Keep on at her and threaten with Trading Standards and the press!! keep me posted I am sure the girls in this post will comment if you go to the press. Also don’t forget to post reviews on Google
if people are searching for her business she will not get very far if Google displays the bad experience we have all had

I wish I had found this before our wedding in Nov 2010. She’s tried to change the deal several times. Nothing has been received (march 2011).

Even worse the majority of the lsit was charity gift vouchers!

Karen
March 11, 2011

Glen this is disgusting – she is actually profiting from Charity!! I think you need to contact your local paper and get them to run this story. Obviously she is not sorry about the sham service she provides and she will not stop ripping people off!! Advise all your friends NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY!

We have found ourselves in similar situation. Around 1/3 of gifts not arrived 20 weeks after close off of our list. If anyone has info on a solicitor that is already up to speed, please can i get the contact details? Thanks.

Karen
April 5, 2011

Hi Martin, firstly contact trading standards and consumer direct they should be able to put you in touch with a solicitor who won’t charge the earth, I would also contact the local press if I was you (I will be happy to comment on your story and back you up should the journalist be interested) just point them to this website for proof of this womans activities and how she is ripping people off!!! I recommend the Yorkshire Post being your first call.

Hope this helps let me know how you get on I am happy to create a statement against The Gift Box should you need one.

June 30, 2011

We also had huge problems with The Gift Box (as did friends who used them too). We got married in Sep 2008, when i was pregnant. After being advised we would have our items in ~12 weeks (including money, some of which was for a charity donation and some to purchase a new dining room table) i was happy i could go shopping and get sorted prior to having my baby.

I received the final items in late Apr 2009 – 7 months after we got married and my little boy was already 3 months old! The original delivery had items missing, and had some things in which werent ours. I had sent detailed breakdowns of what should be sent and what shouldnt, as they had got confused by again their website taking pymt from my friend twice for the same item.

I didnt even get the money they were holding until early Apr 2010, so they had been earning interest on that for a similar length of time. I was advised they had sent it via BACS in Dec, quite impressive as i had never given them any bank details! She then said her “accounts lady” had got confused about 2 customers called Louise.

My friends who used the service ended up keeping items which were wrong, because it had taken so long to get them in the first place they didnt want to complain.

I would never, ever recommend anyone use this service, and only wish i had researched better before i signed up with her – this was the only downpoint of my whole wedding.

And you can tell how annoyed i was by the fact i am still ranting now over 2 years later!!

We wished we had done our research and seen these reviews. We were married in May 2011 and have not heard from Julia since requesting a delivery date for our goods. Now she has moved from her premises in Meanwood ‘working from home’. Her automated message service is now no longer able to take messages as it is too full and the annoying Giftbox automated email reply saying we will get back to you in 48hrs (as if!!) is no longer being sent. I have a heart sinking feeling we will never see our gifts or our guest their money. My last email threatened legal action. Very angry!!!

DLo
September 5, 2011

WOW! Wish we had read some of these reviews before going with this bunch of cowboys! Got married in Aug 2010 and still fighting for our gifts and the money she owes us. Its a disgrace that this can go on and this company can keep appearing at Wedding Fairs and get business.
We have got to the point now where we are in discussions to take legal action against them for breach of contract and with trading standards for wrongful advertising of a service! We stopped short of trying for straight out “theft” from our guests, as I don’t think that one will hold any watre.
What gets me the most is that there is just nothing coming back from Julia and “her team”. I have requested a face to face appointment several times but never got a responce. We have turned up to the shop and there is never anyone there. I just want my gifts and the money they owe us.
In a way I am glad that I have found these comments as my wife and I were wondering if it was just us, obviously its not!

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Karen
September 5, 2011

I cannot believe this woman is still doing this to people two years on! Its unbelievable. Is she still doing the wedding shows cost they cost about £1000 to have a stall! Seriously guys I think we need to contact the press. People need to be warned about this con artist.

Karen
September 5, 2011

David I strongly recommended you take legal action. Basically she is using your money to fund her next wedding show and rip off more people. If you go to the press I will happily support your campaign anyway I can. She is a con merchant and needs to be stopped. If I can be of any help along the way I am happy to do what I can but I encourage everyone to leave a review on Google. I work in SEO and know this will harm her business from an internet marketing perspective. Just search “the gift box Leeds” and there should be an option to leave a review. Also tweet this post and share it. We need to get the word out. Its outrageous

Sally
September 8, 2011

I cannot believe i have found this warning about the Gift Box!!!! We got married in december and have just received half of our gifts after threats of legal action against the so called professional Julia!!!!! I have spent hours sending e-mails to gain no reply or alternatively have had reams of excuses!!! I left hundreds of message on the answering machine that promised to return my call with in twenty four hours, another lie!!! ( at one point the answering machine was full and i would not be surprise after reading this that it was full of complaints)I really do think something should be done about this women and strongly worded letters to wedding fairs could be the way forward she should not be allowed to trade and take advantage of people’s good will!!!! We are now currently waiting for missing items from our list we have settled on keeping items that were ordered incorrectly and have managed to contact the retailers of items to replace broken gifts who were all disgusted with the service there representative was offering!!! Our guests to had problems ordering gifts after website problems and being unable to get in contact by phone which again as i have read previously lead to many guests giving money in replacement “a “friendly service where the stress off gift buying was alleviated certainly wasn’t what was found. I feel better in knowing that we are not alone and hope everyone else eventually gets the gifts their friends and family have brought and that Julia gets what she deserves a failed business where she can no longer pray on the public planning there special event !!!!

Karen
September 9, 2011

So sorry you experienced this Sally. Its horrible and stressful.

Completely agree Sally – I am happy to help out in anyway possible if you decide to bring her down! I recommend getting in touch with local papers first, showing them this blog and get the word out to others to NOT USE THE GIFT BOX LEEDS.

The wedding fairs I think will be trickier – as Juila is robbing people to pay for her next appearance at these events rather than buying the gifts people have requested I am not sure the wedding fairs will be as concerned if she is paying to be there and her cheque clears but we can certainly try writing to them and telling them their reputation is at stake if they don’t refuse her to appear there in the future. We can also get the press to put pressure on them not to accept her.

Let me know your thoughts Sally and I am happy to help! :)

I am more than happy to go to the press about this disgraceful Gift Box scam. I have tried messaging Julia via her facebook and twitter site. All I got back was an email full of excuses and promises of delivery, but we have still not seen any gifts. Has anyone already started legal action? We would be very grateful for the details of any solicitors involved in making a case. Has anyone found customer trading services any help?

September 28, 2011

I’m having problems with this ’service’….pretty much as karen says. She has nearly 2k of my family’s money. Is it worth us grouping together to pay for one lawyer or write a joint complint to trading satndards and get it all sorted? I’ll hapily give karen my details so we can sort it out?

Karen
September 28, 2011

Hi James

I think this is a good idea however before we do this approach trading standards and see if they will help with a free solicitors letter or some sort of authority letter that will tell her you mean business. If that fails I think we really need to start seeing how we can let the media know first of all and the wedding show organisers.

Where did you find Julia and The Gift Box, did you attend a show? – we need to cut her off at the source

jay
September 29, 2011

we used another service in that show room, we found about her there.. The the stupid thing is that it could be a good buisness it just needs to be run properly. I’ll give trading standards a go i think.

I can’t believe she is still getting away with this 2 years on. The same excuses the same con artist. I will be forwarding a link to this blog to the press. Its about time she was exposed. We did get our gifts but had to wait 9 months and then they were wrong and broken!

Karen
October 21, 2011

Zoe – definitely lodge a complaint with Trading Standards they are not an amazing help but the more complaints against her the stronger the case. I have emailed a link to this blog to Yorkshire Post, The Examiner and a few local papers (Wakefield and Halifax) – I urge everyone who has commented here to share this post via Twitter, Facebook, Google +1 etc…. and contact your local papers – just tell them to READ THIS BLOG! I can not believe she is still A) in business and B) still pulling the same crap excuses and stunts!!

Please please please guys spread the word about this woman, warn others! get the word out

Lets see if any of the local papers are going to stand up for us!!.

Hi Everyone, Have received a facebook reply from Julia saying she has had personal problems and has not been working. She promised our goods by the end of October and a formal letter to all her brides with an explanation…… As predicted no letter and still no goods. I have reported her to the police for fraud via the National Fraud Authority on 03001232040 or http://www.actionfraud.org.uk. They advised that the more people who make a report the more likely that action will be taken. Please contact them and make sure she doesn’t put anyone else through the stress we are all experiencing.

Hey Kylie – good work she will be trying to pull another fast one…she’s had “personal problems” since our dealings with her in 2009! Its an excuse DO NOT buy it, you’ve done the right thing by exposing Julia from The Gift Box Leeds as a fraud and contacting the police.

Her “personal problems” don’t seem to be a challenge when she is turning on the charm at wedding fares! what a load of bull!

Guys I have emailed some local papers and ITV but no joy :( anyone else had any luck?

We received an email from Gift Box this week stating that Gift Box will no longer be trading from 2012 and that someone will contact us in early December to arrange delivery between the 12th Dec and 24th Dec. This concerns me greatly. If we do not receive our gifts by 24th Dec this only allows one week to take legal action before the company closes, and what are the chances of any action between Christmas and New Year!!?- Nil. I suggest to all to take legal action now before the company closes. If we took action as a group we may get further. If anyone wants to get in contact my email is kjmar4@hotmail.com

Has anyone else had a similar email?! I suggest you call trading standards and ask them for advice about getting a refund before its too late.

This is shocking – how can she give a few weeks notice of this?!

Hi All,
We met the gift box back in September 2010 at the wedding fair in magna in rotherham.
we almost pulled out of the gift box in feb 2011 as they were not responding to emails about our publishing our list and we wanted to send out invites for our wedding on 29th May. I wish we had pulle dout now.
We recieved the email on 6th november stating that they would be ceasing trading etc however I have been sending numerous emails since August and leaving countless voicemails. I have posted and emailed a letter stating that I will be going to trading standards etc if I do not recieve a response by tomorrow. I have rewuested a cheque for the full amount as I do not believe i will ever receive my gifts. I am so annoyed that we have been conned by them and I only wish i had gone iwht gut instinct earlier in the year, however I was worried they were going to charge me £100 for their time through cancelling the list. That seems like a small price to pay as I am sure if I had gone with Debenhams we would have had our gifts. Kylie – I agree I tihnk we may need to take action together.

We have had the same problem. We were married in june, and still no gifts. We had the ceasing to trade email too.

I am in the wedding industry myself so can’t believe I fell for it.

We can not let this continue. I have already spoken to lots of my guests who have not paid by credit card so will never get their money back.

Please report this crime. The fraud people mentioned above need the volumes of details to investigate fully and do something to stop her. Please can we all get together to make sure she is stopped. Karen can you email me to discuss further?

We have now received another pleading email. She is saying delivery by mid jan, but I don’t believe it she is just buying time. I am seeking legal advice. Who else is in the same position. Please post or let Karen know.

Thanks Elle – Keep us all updated – this has been going on since my wedding in 2009 so as for stalling for time she’s had plenty to get her act together but I suppose we need to give her the benefit of the doubt. Anyone else had an update?
